The two year Architectural Lighting Design and Performance Master’s programme is based on a new approach to light and lighting which is a combination of visual, physical and biologically based knowledge and experience, applied to design, technology and health.
Theoretical knowledge will be combined with practical application in laboratory experiments, project work and case studies. The international nature of the programme will offer in-depth discussions and an understanding of culturally based views and values towards practice and research on lighting design. The programme will include fundamental issues such as energy, sustainability, lighting affects on humans, design, development and new technologies.
The aim of the programme is to provide the student with the knowledge and understanding to carry out work required to design lighting for interior and exterior architectural projects, including both electrical and daylight solutions, in such a way that the design can be implemented, become an integral part of the project and establish an efficient, enjoyable, healthy, sustainable and safe environment for the people who live, work and relax in it.
The courses in the first year of the programme form a solid foundation for the wider and deeper approaches to the topic of Architectural Lighting Design in the second year.

The profile of the one year Architectural Lighting Design Programme is based on a new approach to light and light planning, which is a combination of visual, physical and biological based experience and knowledge applied to design, technology and health.
The educational idea is based on a comprehensive view, where theoretical knowledge will be combined with practical application in laboratory experiments, project work and case studies. The international profile of the programme will offer in-depth discussion and understanding of culturally-based views and values.
The aim of this one year programme is to provide the student with the fundamental knowledge and understanding to include lighting design as part of solutions for interior and exterior architectural projects. Basic knowledge on both electrical and daylight solutions shall be gained to enable its application as an integral part of a project to any built environment, taking into consideration efficiency, joy, health, sustainability, safety and acceptation by the people who live, work and relax in it.
At an application of the two year master programme, the courses of the one year master programme are counted in the examination requirements.
