ELDA+ Vox Juventa 2005 and ELDA+ Unis.net quiz
ELDA+ Vox Juventa and ELDA+ Unis.net quiz
The young lighting designers' conference and accompanying quiz event that took place on 3.-4. June, 2005 in Haninge, Stockholm/S were a great success.
The six papers presented at the ELDA+ Vox Juventa conference were of extremely high quality, with topics ranging from lighting technology to the philosophical meaning of light in Malay culture.
The Best Speaker Award went to Alkestie Skarlatou, who gave an informative and well structured paper on "Architectural lighting design and aesthetics: in quest of theories and manifestoes in artificial lighting projects". Alkestie has a Masters degree from the Bartlett programme and is currently working on her PhD. She received a certificate and congratulations from Prof. Jan Ejhed and will be awarded 1000 euros towards her studies from ELDA+.
The ELDA+ Unis.net quiz was an entertaining match of wit and knowledge. Two teams from the University of Wismar, two teams from the Royal Technical College in Haninge, and one team each from the Bartlett and the University of Applied Sciences in Hildesheim took part. The students were asked questions on lamps, lighting technology, projects, lighting designers, lighting manufacturers, and the history of lighting. The final round was left to the Bartlett and the team from Hildesheim, and it was neck and neck to the very end!
Karl M. Reger, Antonia Spiess and Wiebke Gouschaal from the University of Applied Sciences in Hildesheim were the overall winners and will be receiving 1000 euros in prize money for their university.
Congratulations to the winners! We look forward to holding a sequel event in 2006.
