Professional Lighting Design Convention, PLDC in London/UK

The Professional Lighting Designers' Association is honoured to be co-organiser of the first global Professional Lighting Design Convention PLDC, which is organised by VIA Publishing for the International magazine Professional Lighting Design. The PLD Convention is an event designed to promote the culture of professional lighting design.

Deike Canzler is Best Speaker at Vox Juventa 2007

The two PLDA events for young lighting designers – the Vox Juventa conference and the Unis.net quiz – took place on 27. October, 2007 as part of the Professional Lighting Design Convention, PLDC 2007. At Vox Juventa, six young Lighting Designers presented papers and shared their ideas with a specialist audience. The papers covered topics such as Sustainability, Philosophy, Daylight, Technology and Design Trends.

The jury chose Deike Canzler, German-born lighting designer from Sweden, as Best Speaker 2007. Her paper was entitled “Information by Intuition – an architectural lighting installation with a phenomenological approach”. Deike Canzler / S was awarded a certificate at the PLDC Gala Dinner, and will receive a money prize of 1,000 euros from PLDA.

Congratulations once again to Deike and the other Vox Juventa speakers for their excellent papers!

All papers are published in the Proceedings of the Professional Lighting Design Convention PLDC, which can soon be ordered through the website www.via-verlag.com.
 

Hildesheim third-time winners of Unis.net

In the Unis.net quiz, a university level quiz, four teams challenged each other on topics concerning light and lighting. The first round was played by teams from Wismar/D and KTH Stockholm/S. The second round was played by a second team from Wismar/D and a team from Hildesheim/D. In the final round, KTH Stockholm/S and Hildesheim/D challenged each other again, with Hildesheim/D beating KTH Stockholm/S by 20 points. 

Congratulations to the team from Hildesheim: Laura Sudbrock, Sylwia Schafranietz and David Kretzer. They will be awarded 1,000 euros for their university. 

And thank you also Gad Giladi, who made a discerning but entertaining quizmaster!

The next Unis.net quiz will take place in Wismar/D. All schools and universities running courses on Lighting Design are welcome to enter teams.
