The second Professional Lighting Design Convention will take place from 29. to 31. October 2009 in Berlin.

As in 2007 the second PLDC 2009 will furthermore follow its aim to establish the lighting design profession. The programme will be based on the successful 2007 agenda, yet allow for additional speakers and side programme. The well-attended product exhibition will grow and diversify with several exhibition areas.

The first Congress in 2007 in London/UK had the goal to establish the profession of professional lighting designer and to strengthen the collaboration between professional lighting designers, architects and clients.  The topics ranged from “Light and Health” and “Research” to “Professional Issues” and “Education”, speakers were prominent members of the community from around the world. Besides the lectures the PLDC gave a unique opportunity to mingle with colleagues.

The declaration of the official establishment of the profession of lighting designers was presented to the more than 1000 participants, marking a big step towards the essential goal of the conference.
Most of the participants signed up in London, but it is still possible to download it on www.pld-a.org. The signed document should be sent to the PLDA head office to raise the impact of the paper.

The congress will close with a gala dinner and the bestowal of the second Professional Lighting Design Recognition Awards. Selected by an independent jury, outstanding professionals, industry partners and projects will be honoured with emphasis on the impact of light for human beings or the establishment of the lighting design profession.
